Making my younger self proud by turning my teenage dream car (Civic Coupe) into a Need For Speed Underground Ricer
I currently own 3 Honda Civics! 1 Civic coupe The honda civic budget build, VTi / Si to you guys in the states. Chassis Code EM1 but more popularly known as a EK Coupe! You know the one with the B16 engine.
Two Civic EG Hatchbacks, One from Japan that's currently a shell and a Red UK engine swapped EG6 with a H22A from the JDM Prelude VTEC. Obviously they are all right hand drive and being modified as the channel grows!
The plan is that the White EG Hatch will become the ultimate daily track car with the Red cars H22 Swap and all its parts. The silver one will be a complete budget build and perhaps if funds allow a full body kit, turbo, need for speed, fast and furious looking Project car!
But ultimately, I'm just a UK car guy that prefers tuner cars to super cars.

Great video.
Since you did not replace the dust cover on the strut, you can not make sure that everything is perfect.
@@dividivus nothings perfect, it's a £600 car 😂
Thanks man
A few additions First number is Tread width (tyre width) Then its Aspect ratio = side wall height as a percentage of the tyre width 17 or the following 2 digit number is the wheel diameter 👍🏻
Another Best Content ever 👌
Thanks Lewis mate

Pssssh sounds ok, but we need the turbo flutter...zrooom stu tu tu tu tu tu...
The tires are worn out when they get to the wear bars
Some aren't as accurate as you'd expect. Most are set at 2mm, but can go lower even than the 1.6mm specified in the UK.
I'm going to be really smashing the how tos and have a dedicated playlist with around 70 videos on it already, so feel free to check it out 👍🏻

Thanks mate

Good stuff, looking forward to more tips like this in future videos! You earned a sub, definitely deserve it. Though you could be a bit more structured, but it's not terrible the way it is.
Hey thanks for watching and any suggestions on how to improve the content, be it structure or even the subject being discussed, I'm all ears man 👍🏻
Ho pal, i am looking at buying a swift sport 1.4, abd found your videos, still happy with the sss? I am also considering a gt86
Yes mate very much so but, if you don't need the 4 doors and rear seats like my Mrs does, (we have 2 kids) I'd recommend the 86 over the SSS. It's faster, more of a drivers car. The SSS is the hatch I'd buy over all the other mini hatches though 👍🏻 including the fiesta, abarth etc
You better do that shit dude!
Dude I have no idea why you turned the piston. Just turning it, and then turning it back to how it was, can cause it to move better afterwards?... What ? The dude in the other video popped the thing out and sanded the sides until it was shiny.
Sometimes a full caliper refresh isn't needed and the pistons on the rear wind back as they have a ratchet mechanism internally for the handbrake. With this in mind, simply moving the piston can "free it off" enough to not need a full caliper refurb. To add, dismantling the caliper can result in seals getting damaged and/or split. This is fine if you have a full set of rubbers to replace them with but if not, you end up with a bricked car until you buy them. Most replacement calipers are also very close to a refurb kit in cost but, you save a lot of time by just buying a replacement caliper. If you want another video showing the caliper teardown and rebuild I believe theres one on a civic ev1 on my channel 👍🏻
Another quick how to and many more to come 👍🏻 seems theyre the demand on the channel
Another epic Content ever 👌
Thanks lad

Hi Dan, great job by your Dad. Can I ask, why he didn't feel the need to tape off the surrounding area and also would he advise an Orbital Polisher or would a Cordless drill do just as well ? Thanks
Paints gone on the car mate haha and orbital was all he had to hand at the time. That's the only reason mate 👍🏻 a cordless drill does work and I've done that myself on another headlight resto on the EM1 build. It's on the channel somewhere 😁
Did the ABS pump not need reprogramming/recoding?
Really helpful video 👍 What are the torque settings? Do you have a link for the video of the rears?
Thanks mate, I can't recall the torque settings (check online/auto data) but you can find the rears done over on silverline tools channel where I did them as a how to for them 👍🏻
That’s not the Greddy extreme power, I am sure about it
Hi Dan great video, my swift brake pedal makes a high pitched sound when the pedal is going back up and i also noticed that it takes a little longer to brake then normal. Do you know what that may be, I have heard the master cylinder tends to fail and if replacing the abs pump do they need re programmed. Thanks
Change those gloves before fitting new discs and pads. 🤔
Great little cars I’m on my original pads and discs still but I’ll try these EBC pads when I change them. 👍🏻
Excellent video going to do mine now
Hiw much wss the cheap buffet plz ❓
how do the brakes work today? Are they durable and better than the series? (cold and warm)
They're mint! Really grabby compared to the OEM pads even when cold and very resistant to high temps on a spirited drive. Although I never got the OEM ones to fade completely, these have never shown any signs of fade where I would have expected the OEM ones to start fading. Brake dust is heavy though as you would expect from a performance pad 👍🏻
I'll do a review if you're interested
@@Dan_AYP Thanks for your answer, I would be happy to see a review!
those rotors look very scored?
damn that whole strut should've been replaced
But on a £600 car it doesn't 😆
Would appreciate an update after a year. My experience of comline brakes has not been positive.
HKS Spec L love it
I don't understand why the residue always stays. I have a different brand that the residue had a glare.
Me watching this video: 👤
Me reading this comment 🤷🏼
What’s the purpose of this?
So you can reset it after completing a service yourself
What happens when you're rewinding the piston but then that last 3mm doesn't want to wind ???? Currently in a predicament where the piston won't wind all the way not allowing me to fit new pads, I have a rewind tool no ecu rewind unfortunately
Awesome. Thank you I have the next gen swift and it really needs new arms. Smooth Japanese roads. Lol.
These rear bushings tear on smooth Japanese roads. My Suzuki has 32,000km and both bushings are torn in several places.
For the LIFE of me I cannot remove those white clips. There's so little room and I managed to get it up a teeny bit but when I tried to use pliers to pull them the clips were chipping off tiny bits.... =(
They're difficult to get moving. The do move with the plug itself as it locks and pulls itself together. So you have to wiggle the plug while pulling it .. it's a bit of a nightmare when it's seized
@@Dan_AYP Thanks for the reply! I bought a hook tool to get a better grip and will try again today using the method you described. Appreciate it! I've been going mad with this for 4 months - changed master, servo, and hoses so I'm convinced this is the culprit!
What’s the name of the spoiler ?
It's a dc2 spoiler
do you have to do anything to stop brake fluid coming out of abs pump when you remove pipes or does it just drip out only thanks
It just drips mate, gravity will do it's thing unless you have some plugs to pop in the holes.
Tip for finding rattles without driving: Find a spot like a more industrial park, find a song with the right bass (it will differ spending on your speakers) and sometimes you can crank the music up. I've found some rattles in panels especially with that bass cranked up. I also found SHEETS of felt coated adhesive. You can slap those on the inside of the glovebox! So it will help avoid a lot of those rattles.
Thanks man, I appreciate that 👌🏻
Ford ka 2010 handbrake is awful. Is there an adjustment in the rear drum?
Usually yes, they're normally a very similar mechanism in all drum brakes. Most even share parts.
Thanks for the video

A good idea is to put a rag around the fluid reservoir to catch any spillage.
Does the Swift Sport have true double exhaust? Or is one of the pipes fake?
Legitimately a Double 👍🏼
Great video! Thanks
Can Rain X be used on glasses or camera lenses? 🤔
Was doing one on a suzuki ciza it's hard .to put it in
It can be depends on the tolerances! But, make sure you disconnect the roll back or jack up the whole axle to avoid any tension 👍🏻
